Wilderness Snowmobiling Adventure Queenstown

You’ll be cruising across pristine snow at an altitude of up to 6,000ft above sea level. There are stunning views and plenty of opportunities to stop and take photos. To whet your appetite here are some of photos of the spectacular landscape.

The snowmobile tour will move at a pace comfortable for everyone. Our snowmobiles are modern Polaris machines, they are easy to operate, and your guide is right there if you need any assistance. No previous experience is required.

In total your trip is around two and a half hours in duration. This includes a 15-minute scenic helicopter flight each way and approximately 1 and 1/2 hours snowmobiling.

At the end of your snow adventure you’ll depart by helicopter for a scenic flight back to Glacier Southern Lakes Helicopters’ base. Our courtesy van will drop you back to your accommodation in central Queenstown.

Snowmobiling is an Adventure Activity and carries a degree of risk. Hazards include; snowmobile rollover, snowmobile collision, loss of control, cold exposure, uneven terrain, slips trips and falls which have the potential to result in serious injury or death.

We minimise risks as much as possible throughout our operation and are a certified adventure activity, operating in full compliance with the Adventure Activities regulations.

Scenic Flight

Our scenic helicopter  flight on Glacier Southern Lakes Helicopters, takes you for an exhilarating flight across the western face of the Remarkables Mountain Range, over the Hector Mountains & across the Nevis River Valley, where you land at the base of the Garvie Mountains.

After landing at the snowmobile base you’ll gear-up in warm outer clothing. We provide warm overalls, helmets, gloves, and boots on the mountain.

Our experienced guide will brief you on how to ride the brand new Polaris snowmobile safely and comfortably before commencing your snowmobile trip. When the guide is satisfied, then everyone departs in convoy across the plateau.

 

Getting Here

By arrangement, our courtesy coach will pick you up from central Queenstown, or directly from your accommodation, and bring you to our helicopter base. We are located near Queenstown airport and it is from here you’ll start your heli-snowmobiling adventure.

You also are welcome to drive directly to our base, 35 Lucas Place, Frankton - Glacier Southern Lakes Helicopters. We have free parking for our Queenstown Snowmobiling guests. 

Please dress warmly, wear sturdy, covered shoes, bring sunscreen, sun glasses, a hat, a day pack and some water. If you have ski clothing, please do wear it. Of course, don’t forget your camera or Go Pro!
